Community Foundation Supports Initial Assessment of Old Oil Wells in Muskegon County's Laketon Township
Westshore is working for Laketon Township to do a preliminary assessment of the human health and environmental risks posed by old oil wells north of Bear Lake.
The Community Foundation for Muskegon County has awarded a grant to Laketon Township to complete a preliminary risk assessment of the North Muskegon Oil Field.
The project will improve and make available maps showing the locations of old oil and gas wells in an especially dense area of such wells in Laketon and Muskegon Townships. A work group has formed to guide the project, make an initial assessment of the human health and environmental risks posed by these old wells, and recommend future actions.
